Damn Dirty Apes
General Summary
A campus security guard at Miami University was found torn in half in a medical education building, and several items from the lab, stolen. This is beyond the normal abilities of the local police chief, Claire Guimaris, who requests help from the Bureau of Paranormal Investigation.
Darby "Derpy" O'Dowd goes off to investigate on his own, and slips in the pool of blood, and while on his back notices a loose vent cover in the ceiling. He climbs into it and searches the vents only to be confronted with Robo Monkeys, who shoot poo into his eyes.
Meanwhile, Egon Venkman , and Daphne , question the Police chief and Pauline Brooks, another campus security guard. Dr Violet Hart arrives to do forensics work on the corpse, only to discover that the scene has been fairly well disturbed by Darby's exploits, and is startled when he falls from the ceiling near her. Darby then cleans himself in a lab wash station. She informs Egon that she will contact him with the results of her work.
Egon and Daphne learn that there has been a rash of unusual thefts at the university, mostly electronic and medical supplies have gone missing along with some robotic actuators. Daphne clues into the report of a missing tome from stolen from the Anthropology department that focuses on bridging the Etheric and Physical realms. With Darby's revelation of the Robo Monkeys, Pauline informs the hunters that there was also a liberation of monkeys, attributed to a local animal rights organization, The Animal Freedom Militia.
Acting on this information, Faustus and Onyx St Croix go to the Crazy Katz Club and speak to Amy Pritchard and Robin Harding, both of whom implicate Dr Lawrence Beech as a professor who works with monkeys, doing horrible experiments on them.
They relay this information to Egon and Daphne, who visit the university offices and meet Dr Andrew Crouch, the medical school dean. He informs them that Beech's funding was withdrawn after an ethics complaint was levied against him by his partner, Dr Karen Wathey, a prosthetics expert who informs them of Beech's insane sounding ramblings of cybernetic control through the use of mystic powers, and his bizarre and unnecessary experiments on monkeys.
Dr Hart calls to inform Egon of her findings and that there was the presence of Chimpanzee and Gorilla hair at the scene of the murder.
About this time the hunters hear sirens, and arrive at the scene to find Pauline has been bitten by monkeys, who have disappeared down into the steam tunnels.
The Hunters descended into the tunnels and were ambushed by Robo Monkeys, who used shoulder mounted rail guns to shoot a variety of small objects at the hunters, ranging from small rocks to their own poop. After fighting with the monkeys for some time, Daphne hit upon a solution of writing a disrupting glyph which separated the Monkeys from their cybernetics.
The hunters then proceeded to a large central area where they found Dr Couch and Dr Wathey restrained, and guarded by three cybernetic chimpanzees, Clara, Virgil, and Nim. Daphne was again able to disrupt thier connections, but with reduced effect.
Dabney arrived with a Robo Monkey under his arm and tried to shoot his flashlight using the rail gun, but was unsuccessful.
Dr Beech went upon a long monologue about his grievances, and revealed Koko, his ultimate creation. Onyx was able to communicate briefly with Koko, and convince her to turn on her master, which she did with great effect, tearing off his arms and beating him into the floor by his legs. Koko, the chimps, and the remaining Robo Monkeys then wandered off into the night.
