The Church of the Blessed Second Scroll

There then the gods stood in awe of the champion created before them. Mortal by nature turned divine. Until then the gods had created only a few creatures that could live for multiple centuries, however, Champions stand outside of time. Their abilities and bodies were far above their normal creations. There was no option then, out of fear and love for their creations the other Gods had no choice but to create champions of their own. They poured their divinity into their strongest candidates and while many mortal frames could not contain the divine blessing upon their bodies, eventually the Gods had all created their divine warrior.     The sudden stalemate and fear of their champion perishing kept a state of peace for the first time in the God's life. Throughout The Beyond the sounds of sword and clashing steel slowly became extinct. The God's creations spread and multiplied across the lands and while some succumbed to the elements most flourished in due time. The God's agreed to return to the beyond with their blessings, having proven that a stalemate was possible. But their actions had consequences beyond even their infinite wisdom. The God's even with their champions' permission could not take the blessings they had given. They were trapped in a famished and far less powerful state. Their creations were too closely bound to their gift. Now the gods wait in weakened states unable to hear all but the most dedicated followers' pleas. Only with death could the blessing return to their respective God. The Gods then decided that a competition like never before must be undertaken. The Champions are to fight and collect the blessings given to them. The Gods decided to commence the combats in about 300 years to prepare and allow all champions to reach the age of maturity. The eventual victor would ascend to The Beyond and restore the pantheon in the victor's image. The Champion would sit at their right hand and serve for eternity as their protector their Sovereign Above All.   The Gods jointly impose these rules:   1. Champions cannot leave the Isle of Moli Mare. 2. The Blessings of the divine must be collected after each battle. 3. The combatants cannot refuse a direct challenge. 4. The fight must be fair, no mortals or champions are to interfere in seen or unseen ways. 5. Champions may ally themselves as they see fit, once such a pledge is made they are honor-bound to keep it. 6. Champions may not destroy Isle of Moli Mare.
