The Crimson Pact
The Crimson Pact is a shadowy order of assassins who operate through blood-bound contracts, accepting assignments through an ancient spell that binds them magically to the terms of the kill. Each assassin carries a blank contract, and upon dripping their blood onto the parchment, the details of their next target are revealed in eerie crimson script. Failure to execute the terms of the contract results in the hunting down of the failed assassin. Feared across kingdoms and whispered of in frightened tones, the Crimson Pact leaves no trace except the crimson seal they burn into the earth where their target falls.
Structure
The Pact is governed by The Silent Chorus, an enigmatic circle of masked figures who oversee contracts and enforce the guild’s ancient laws. Beneath them, the assassins are divided into ranks based on experience: Echoes, the initiates still proving their worth; Blades, seasoned killers who handle high-profile targets; and Phantoms, masters of the craft who can eliminate entire groups without a whisper of their presence. No member knows the true identity of the Silent Chorus, and orders are given through contracts alone—ensuring that even within the guild, anonymity is a weapon.
Culture
The Crimson Pact does not tolerate hesitation or failure, as every contract is a pact sealed in blood and magic. While each assassin operates independently, they adhere to an unspoken code of discipline, precision, and absolute loyalty to the contract once accepted. Rituals and blood magic play a heavy role in their training, with initiates learning to bind their essence to their work, making every kill an act of both skill and sorcery. Despite their ruthless nature, there is a strange reverence among them—many view their work as a necessary balance, removing those whose fates have been sealed by the hand of The Fates themselves.
Public Agenda
To the world, the Crimson Pact is a force of unseen executioners, striking down nobles, warlords, and criminals alike, with no discernible allegiance. They do not take sides in wars or politics, only fulfilling the contracts that find their way to them through blood and spellcraft. Some believe that the Pact operates under a higher purpose, serving as instruments of fate rather than mere killers-for-hire. Others fear that the assassins are bound by something far older and darker than gold or revenge—that they serve a master who whispers from beyond the veil, guiding their blades toward some unseen endgame.
