Cult of Broken Strings

The Cult of Broken Strings is a heretical sect dedicated to unraveling the concept of fate itself, believing that all life is bound by unseen threads woven by The Fates. Unlike other Hellions-worshiping cults, they serve no singular master, instead acting as intermediaries to any demonic entity that furthers their mission of severing mortal ties to fate. They believe that through chaos, suffering, and destruction, they can unmake the grand design of existence, freeing all from predestination—even if that freedom leads to annihilation. Their members are scattered throughout society, from the highest courts to the lowest slums, pulling at fate’s threads until the tapestry of reality frays.

Structure

The cult has no rigid hierarchy, as they reject authority as another chain that binds the soul. Instead, their leadership consists of The Severed, individuals who have "cut their strings of fate" through some unknown means. Beneath them are Weavers, those who coordinate demonic pacts and infiltrate societies to spread discord, and Unraveled, the foot soldiers and fanatics who carry out assassinations, rituals, and destruction to further their cause. Some members are known as Stray Threads, agents who work alone or in small cells, subtly manipulating events to push the world further into entropy.

Culture

The Cult of Broken Strings thrives on the belief that the world is an illusion of order, and only by breaking it apart can true existence begin. Pain, madness, and chaos are revered, with initiates undergoing harrowing trials to prove their willingness to reject all control. Many members alter themselves physically and mentally, carving sigils of severance into their skin, speaking in fragmented riddles, or moving in strange, puppet-like gestures to mock the gods who supposedly control them. Trust is an illusion within the cult—betrayal is common, even encouraged, for what is loyalty if not another shackle?

Public Agenda

To outsiders, the Cult of Broken Strings appears as a senselessly destructive force, assassinating key figures, sowing rebellion, and unleashing horrors upon the world. However, their actions are carefully orchestrated, each strike aimed at destabilizing societies, toppling rulers, or corrupting once-sacred places that anchor fate’s design. Their ultimate goal is to dismantle the cosmic order itself, ensuring that no god, prophecy, or divine law can dictate reality. Whether they are truly liberators or merely deranged pawns of chaos is a question that none, perhaps not even the cultists themselves, can answer.

"No master, no fate—only freedom."
