Dohaerdem

Sharing a root with the Dwaert words for family, clan, and heart, Dohaerdem is the reverence for one's family, immediate ancestors, and, to a lesser extent, the greater Dwarven community. Physical representations of a family's ancestry, usually in the form of statues of ancestors or engravings of family trees, are seen as important relics.   Dohaerdem was one of the few cultural touchstone the Dwarves maintained during their diaspora under the Sarkhani. Maintaining one's connection to one's clan and ancestors became increasingly important to the scattered people. Now as Dwarves return to ancestral homes, and find abandoned strongholds, the discovery of a hold belonging to your clan is a momentous occasion, and woe to any other creature that has taken up residence
