Bread made daily out of water, flour, and yeast. Slowly let to rise then cooked within a stone oven using the scarce wood of the land around it to cook it. When the outer layer begins going into a dark brown color it is pulled out and let to cool down coated in a light layer of flour.
After letting it cool it is cut into an average of 8 slices. A fresh tomato is split in half and each half is smeared across the warm surface (This acts as a form of basic sauce similar to butter). On top of it a fresh layer of mint, olives, and capers. Within the 2 slices normally fresh tuna is put between it but if the times make it hard to find such a delicacy they turn to other forms of meat. They would normally be wrapped in wax paper or fresh leaves that would be stuck together via a wheat and water mixture.
Such meats would include chicken, pork, beef, venison, rabbit or even horse. the now freshly made sandwich is closed and lightly drizzled with olive oil. this form of a meal would often be eaten by builders that would spend their days in the sunlight lugging around large stones to build the fresh houses where taverns and homes would be built.
This basic form of bread can be used with other fillings but it mostly recommended to be used with this recipe. The recipes with this particular bread include it having multiple layers of scrambled eggs or even fried eggs. the bread when fresh is pillowy resulting it in soaking all the juices and oils of said eggs making it quite moist and pleasing for the tastebuds.
