Mission One

Humanity is on the brink of its greatest adventure.   It is December 25 in the year 2299 and the Global Space Station is buzzing. The three thousand people living and working here are close to reaching the pinnacle of their life's work... their life's passion.   In just a week's time, they will launch themselves into the realms of deep space. That cold, dark expanse that has fascinated peoples of the world for an eon. And now, for the first time in history, it feels close - touchable.   No word or words can do justice to the feelings of excitement, joy, trepidation, and outright fear that are flowing through the myriad of corridors and chambers within the composite walls of the GSS. But one word, however inadequate, is in the minds of everyone.   Destiny........
