Winged Bear

The winged bear is often mistaken for a magical animal--as far as it's possible to be sure, it is not. However its appearance can make it appear otherwise. While the winged bear's body is not especially aerodynamic, its bones are very light and allow its feathered wings to carry it. Around the size of a vulture, the winged bear looks deceptively cuddly, and its small size can fool people into thinking it's not a threat. While the winged bear does not go out of its way to attack things larger than itself, it can turn very aggressive when deemed to be threatened, and one lone one can bring down much larger predators when food is scarce. Normally their preferred prey is game, but in the winter months they have been known to go for human or avrath. Usually this is because a group of winged bears have made their territory close to tribal land and there is competition for the scarce resources.   Winged bears' coats and feathers are normally mottled grey and brown. They turn white in the winter for camoflauge. Their faces are described as looking sly, almost fox-like. They live in caves.
