Calidim

The Calidim, or Eastfolk, are Men who live in the province of Calidurn, the easternmost province of the land of Mirydain.

Naming Traditions

Feminine names

Basma, Gamila, Hanifa, Husni, Alimi, Rani, etc.

Masculine names

Abdad, Rashdi, Ninar, Fahad, Banashu-namir, Shunan, Saddim, etc.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

Calidic is the primary language of the Men of Calidurn.

Shared customary codes and values

The Calidim value five chief virtues as the highest to keep; integrity, wisdom, humility, peace, and love. They have little love for battle, but will fight when their lands and people are troubled. In recent years they have accepted David McKay and Ginny Langford as High King of Queen of the free lands of Mirydain and have pledged their friendship and loyalty to the Kingdom of Mirydain.

Common Taboos

As in most of the lands of Men, acts such as thievery, violence against one's neighbors, and fraudulent actions are forbidden in Calidim society. However, the Calidim are reputedly more severe when it comes to handling these acts.

Beauty Ideals

The Calidim bathe three times every week and make fine cosmetics using natural elements such mulberries, henna, and kohl. In Calidurn, it is customary for women to wear makeup and jewelry at social occasions.
