Queztalkocra

The Queztalkocra are a tribe of Aarakocra who live in the far east of Aarakocra lands. They are also known as the "@Dragon-worshipping Aarakocra", because rather than the elven deities most Aarakocra pray to, the Queztalkocra venerate and follow dragons. They treat dragons as honorable deities themselves, although more as a species than individual dragons.
They are viewed as slightly odd and outsiders by most other Aarakocra, but they have remained to themselves and seem entirely peaceful, so this odd behavior is tolerated. The Queztalkocra are largely ignored and left to their own devices.
Queztalkocra will adorn themselves with wood and stone carved to look like dragon scales during religious ceremonies, and they make statues of feathered dragons that they will make offerings to. There are myths of feathered dragons, which Queztalkocra believed actually did exist at one point and were ancestors to both Aarakocra and modern dragons. Their theology states that Aarakocra turned against the dragons and as such were punished with their short lifespan and generally weaker state, while dragons were elevated to positions of power. (Exactly by whom is debated even among the Queztalkocra.)
They hope that by proper veneration of dragons, they too can rejoin their cousins in power, in a kind of apotheosis.
