hen you enter the small shop you've been referred to, you're overwhelmed by the sheer number of books in the small space. Shelf after shelf, book by book, they line the walls. Towers of books stack up on the floor, some so tall and precarious, you wonder how they don't tumble. Carefully, you navigate your way through the labyrinth of knowledge surrounding you, until you find the owner of the shop in the back corner of the room. Sitting on an old leather chair in front of a brightly lit fireplace, he looks at you questioningly. He nods approvingly when you tell him what you're looking for and silently points to a row of nine large books bound in leather, one of them looking destinctly different. Next to the books lies a small scroll that catches your interest. But what will you read first?
Read this first!

Dearest reader,
So you found a copy of the eight books that make up our guide to Mirintha. Let us congratulate you! The content of those books was well-curated by ourselves, and it took us quite some time to collect all this knowledge. In case you don’t have much time or are just not that into reading, let us give you a short summary of the most important things to know.

Pillars of Creation

Most of the inhabitants of Mirintha are followers of the Tenfold Path, the belief system in which all of our ten gods are worshipped. These are the eternal gods Cahaya and Pimedus, who together laid the foundations of existence. Their firstborn daughter Daba, who created our world along with the plants and animals. The twins Kära and @Miritis, who are so oppositional in their nature. Taide, the daughter of Pimedus and a Valoperi, and Karas, the son of Cahaya and the dragon Bjarnskvir. Käras' spouse, the ascended Valoperi Bilgi, and their children Nauda and Satuma.

Of course, there are groups who prefer to concentrate their belief in one god, like some Augalai do with Daba or the Kadal with Karas. And those who even worship the long-lost dragons. Even though these variations of belief are accepted, they are still regarded with contempt.

By creating the world and all of us, the gods left some of ther celestial spark with it. A little something we commonly call magic. There are five manifastations of magic: fire, water, earth, air and mind.

Geography

Mirintha has two continents: Elysaria to the west and Borendal to the east. On Elysaria, you can find the states of the Peri and Kerdil, as well as the home land of our fox-like friends, the Tilki. Among the most famous geographical locations on Elysaria are the giant Skyforge Mountain range and the largest desert in the world, the Caleidoscope Desert. Borendal is home to the countries of the Humans, the Kadal, and the Augalai, as well as the independent city-state of Khemerahl. Notable geographical locations include the Lake of Sorrow, the only known saltwater lake to date.

Commerce and trade have flourished between both continents over the last centuries, especially since the arrival of the Humans. Today there are several well established trade routes between both continents. But this progress also has its dark sides, as increasing overseas trade led to a rise in the presence of pirates.

Sentient races

There is one race that has lived on Mirintha since the First Age: the Peri. Among them, you can differentiate between the Valoperi and Vajoperi, who are practically opposites in appearance. One with lighter hair and skin, the other with darker. There are also the blue-skinned Lumiperi, who live in the southern ice desert.

At the beginning of the Second Age, the Kerdil appeared on — or rather under — Mirintha. Among them are the Seramkerdil, who always stay in their mountains, and their relatives, the Bukitkerdil, who left the mountains early after their creation and have since preferred the green hills just outside the Skyforge Mountains.

The god Karas created the Kadal at the beginning of the Third Age. In memory of his dragon father, he gave them horns. According to the Augalai, they don’t differentiate among themselves, even though some resemble Humans or Peri, while others look more like small walking trees. The already mentioned Tilki also first appeared during the Third Age.

The youngest of all races are the Humans. On Elysaria, the nomadic ethnicity of the Qataban is mostly located in the desert that is part of the Valoperi Triumvirate. The three other ethnicities, the Willenbergs, the Hayatan, and the Haelsingar, each of whom have their own countries, are residing on Borendal.

Of course, there are also races that never built societies like those mentioned above. However, these races are worth mentioning nonetheless, such as the pixies and trolls.

Yours sincerely

Mirintha is a world, based on the movies, books and video games that accompanied my over the last +25 years. At lot will seem familiar, as it was inspired, adjusted and combined. Stolen with pride. This world is supposed to be the base for future P&P campaigns that will not use a common game system. Mirntha doesn't have to please everyone, it has to please me. And if by chance you like it, I'm even more pleased. Feel free to browse, like and comment. I might even implement it.
Obviously we welcome every single reader. But there are parts in our books that might not be for the tenderhearted, the nasty and spicy parts. Only Adventurers should read those parts.
