Nullifiers

The Counteragents

Career

Qualifications

Must be born without spirit magic, or be willing to be completly depleted of spirit magic.
Must never seek to use spirit magic or this action will get one discharged from the profession.

Career Progression

If one is successful in their profession as a Nullifier, he or she will progress to become a leader of their own group. Usually called Headman or Headwoman.

Figurehead

This is the highest position and is well respected.

Overseer

This one reports everything going on to the Figurehead, making sure all is well. No one knows who this individual is and is sworn not to tell anyone. Only the Figurehead knows who this one is.

Payment & Reimbursement

They are paid well enough by government standards. Although there are some who disagree. They are paid in crystal coins.

Other Benefits

The benefits must befit the situation they are placed in, however this does not extend to all in the profession. Rather it is distributed individually. For example: if one is placed undercover to catch a pill ditributer by illegal means, this one is also recognized in private by means of free care-giving.

Perception

Purpose

As the name defines itself, they are born without spirit magic or they give up that power for another kind. Some call this an Exchange, though there aren't many who are willing to go that far. Since they are not magic users, they are also not affected by magic at all. In some cases this makes them well sought after, and on the same side of the coin, are quite vulnerable in other situations and conditions.

Social Status

Since they are employed by the government this makes them perceived in a certain light. Those born with spirit magic see them as "lower class", but others see them as regular human beings despite their "disability", as they call it.

History

It is rumoured that the Nullifiers came about as failed experiments, willing or unwilling. Historical documents show images of horrifying discoveries of what these people went through and to see what would happen if they lost the ability to use magic entirely.
