Riverstriker
The Riverstriker is a sleek, torpedo-shaped fish with silver scales and a slightly blue-green dorsal hue.
The fish body shows prominent, sharp dorsal and pectoral fins that it uses for navigating the strong currents of the rivers it lives in. The tail is crescent-shaped and gives it enormous speed, which is needed for this apex predator. Along the sides of the Riverstriker, dark bands or spots, depending on the sub-species, give it a camouflaged appearance that is vital when the fish hunts in murky river water. Its diet consists of smaller fish, shellfish and the occasional bird that stray too close to the water.
When its season for mating, they will migrate to deep freshwater pools, a famous place to observe this behaviour is on the Vian River, as the river flows over several sinkholes that have then been filled with water and now give the fish a perfect spot for mating.
Among hte people living alongside the rivers where the Riverstriker lives, the fish is highly prized for its flavourful meat and is a staple of both local cuisine and export, some local river towns see the fish as a symbol of strength and it's featured in local legends. In some river towns, the boys are not considered real men before catching a Riverstriker using the ancient way of fishing spear.
While the Riverstriker is a freshwater fish, a subspecies called seastrikers can be found living in the sea, they are generally twice the size of their river cousins but are not considered to be as tasty as the Riverstriker.

Place the fish steaks on the grill and give them about 4-5 minutes, depending on the size of the streaks, until they get a golden-brown crust and begins to flake, during the last minute on the grill, brush the steaks with the herb-citrus glaze.
The fish can be served with roasted vegetables or fresh bread to dip in the extra glaze.
And so the predator becomes the prey! :O I like the idea that the riverstriker sometimes catches birds. That must be a sight to behold.
