Cow Spear

At the edge of a valley with next to a a large lake, is a small thriving settlement that was founded by retired veterans of the Dercian legions.
the settlements are located close enough to be connected to trade routes but still far enough away from everything to offer some peace and quiet.
Like is the tradition of veteran colonies, Cow Spear was settled by veterans who had either retired out from the service or had been too wounded to continue in the legions and therefore were given an honourable discharge and a payout in the shape of some land.
Like most veteran colonies, Cow Spear puts a huge amount of value on making sure the youth of the settlement are in the best possible shape so they can join the legions later on and bring some glory to the settlement, should the young ones do well. Cow Spear is old enough that it has attracted some skilled artisans who can provide the settlement with extra income in the shape of weapons, tools and armour, some artisans work with leather provided by the hunters of the village who hunt in some excellent hunting environment.
The culture of the village is still to this day affected by the original veterans, a sense of discipline can be felt in the daily life of the villagers and decisions are made collectively during town councils that resemble councils of the legion and are held at the central square of the village.
The village is also home to a retired Custodes Vitae that goes by the name Cassia Denterra, she runs the local healer shop providing the village with the medical attention it needs, at the same time she is the un official leader of the village, while important dissisions are made by the village council, the members tend to listen when Cassia speaks.
