SESSION 5

General Summary

North Askr Plains

During the dead of night the party attempts to try and ambush the bandit camp. When they arrive they notice two guards standing watch. With some careful planning they manage to lure out and take care of the two guards without waking up any of the bandits. However when Reed goes to sneak up to one of their tents, an alarm spell was activated which ended up waking all of the bandits up. Reed lights one of the tents on fire before the fight starts to try and distract them, but the bandits are out for blood instead and choose to ignore their tent in flames. Carvey charges in and lands a clean strike on the bandit captain however since the rest of his team were far away and or hidden, the bandits decide to rush him and down him. With Carvey out of their way they turn their sights onto the only other person within sight, Rowan. Rowan lets off a devastating shatter spell, however they didn't go down from it and ended up rushing towards and downing Rowan next. With the clean hit from Carvey and the rest of the team pelting the bandit captain from afar he was quite bruised up. He came up with the plan to hold his scimitar up to Carvey's throat while he was unconscious and threatened to kill him if the party didn't step out. Meanwhile Rowan is bleeding out and on the verge of death, Ren and Zenaster come out and begin talking with the bandit captain. During negotiations Ren successfully bluffed about there only being 4 of the party when Reed was actually hiding in one of the tents. At the end of the negotiations they agreed to live and let live and that the bandits wouldn't stake out money on this road anymore due to it having a higher risk than a yield. With the party successfully beating the clock, the bandits ran off and Reed rushes to use a stabilizing balm on Rowan and manages to save him as well as Carvey. With their injured party members stabilized, they begin searching the area to see if the bandits left anything behind. They were able to replenish their ammo as well as finding a box which Reed was able to open. It contained 5 platinum pieces and the party decides to split it evenly. Afterwards they decide to use the bandits camp to take a long rest before heading back to Askr.

Askr

Once the party heads back to Askr they decide to head to the Tavern to chat with Theo about the rewards for the quests they've completed. They tell Theo about the bandits and he gives them their reward for the completion of the quest. Ren goes to explain what happened at the cavern of the void and Theo's expression turned very stern when he mentioned other planer beings. Theo congratulated Ren and Zenaster for completing such a difficult mission despite only being copper rank and promotes them to iron. Afterwards he boosts the reward from a maximum of 40gp per person to 50 gp per person. Then after giving out drinks to the party he goes to the upper level to tell the upper ranks what had happened.
After this exchange the party decides to go back to their dorm and are greeted with the door wide open and two men dressed in black suits walking out. The party asks if they just robbed the place and they said no they were simply taking care of business. Reed calls out to Jessica to make sure she's not dead and she responds that she's okay. Ren notices an insignia on their suit jackets before they walk off. When they go inside and ask Jessica who they were, she states that they work with the company that her dad runs and they were taking the gold back at her request. When asked about it she said that she simply wishes to be able to support herself without her father's help. Reed then begins working on the potions for Zenaster and Ren. During this time, Ren is called into the bathroom (which had just recently gotten a new mirror put in) by Adenine. She appears in the mirror and tells Ren that someone who has a pact with Bazazel has been here. She then goes on to tell Ren that the sphere was a gate to another plane that Bazazel skewed so that only one side was open. She also briefly mentions that Bazazel may be working under Asmodeus, but she has no proof yet. She says she will contact Ren when she has their next objective in mind.
