Soulreaver is a blade infused with ancient magic, its origin lost to time. It possesses a dark aura and a hilt adorned with intricate engravings. The blade itself is crafted from a rare and resilient metal, and its edge glimmers with a faint ethereal glow.
Magical Properties:
Cursed Edge: Soulreaver carries a curse that feeds off a user's madness. When one wields the sword, it harnesses the chaotic energy of their fractured mind, making the blade crackle with unstable magical energy. This energy enhances the weapon's effectiveness, increasing its damage (+1 to damage) and providing a chance to inflict additional psychic or elemental damage on each strike.
Madness Unleashed: In moments of heightened emotional turmoil or when one's madness reaches its peak, Soulreaver can tap into the chaotic magic within them. This ability unleashes devastating bursts of energy with each swing, allowing the sword to unleash powerful shockwaves or unleash wild elemental forces upon striking foes. Upon reaching 50% or below in hit points, the user can optionally gain advantage on all attacks for the round. However, each time one does so, it incurs one level of exhaustion.
Sanity Drain: When striking an opponent, Soulreaver has a chance to drain a small portion of their sanity or life force (a contested roll between the user's STR check vs the target's CON save), further fueling one's own strength and resilience. This effect can momentarily grant him a boost in combat capabilities, such as increased resistance to damage or temporary regeneration. If the attacker wins the contest, they get 1d6 hit points restored (or bonus) while the target loses that many more.
