Oviron

Oviron are a species of sapient bipedal avians that originated on the alpine world of Alatus. Like many other types of avian species, Oviron are capable of self-propelled flight over moderate distances, especially when gliding from high starting altitudes. One of the most notable Ovirine traits is their innate love for precious and valuable objects, such as gems, metals, jewels, and small artifacts. Aerial prospecting by flying through the narrow canyons of Alatus has been a longstanding tradition of the Oviron, and is speculated to be a remnant of primal courtship behaviours. Due to this natural instinct, Oviron are often viewed as natural prospectors - a view that few Oviron deny.

While Oviron are quick to learn new topics (thanks to quickly-reinforcing neurons), they are not so quick to adopt new ideas. Oviron have a natural bias towards established ideas and philosophies, often coming across as traditional or conservative. To outsiders, this is at odds with the Oviron love of adventure. To Oviron, adventure and prospecting are a well-established field with a large body of study and research. Once an idea has been proven, discussed at length, and adopted among society, they are very willing to engage in it.

Compared to other species, Oviron are observed to have a lessened desire to reproduce. During the 21st century CE, many Oviron were concerned that the species may go extinct to a worldwide collapsing birth rate, but it recovered during the following centuries. However, it never reached the heights of other species. Instead of focusing on children, Oviron prefer to better their own existence and that of society at large, including helping to raise other children in their extended family group.
