Session 3

General Summary

30th day of Reshoa, 326 RE

Shortly after arriving at the Jagged Rock and being served with a court order by Marlarna- a capitan of the guard, the party reluctantly agreed to comply with the summons, A'Lala signing for the group. For the time being, Marlarna chose to stay with the party in the days leading up to the court date and dismissed the guards that arrived with her, sending the signed document back with them. They discussed their options, who could be responsible for the accusations, and what their next steps could be before briefly speaking with the keeper of the Jaged Rock, Harley, who informed them that neither Henrik nor the other members of 4th Unit had arrived for their typical lunch break. With that knowledge, the party headed out to meet with Henrik, fill him in on the results of the search & rescue, and figure out what might be going on at the South Mine.

On arriving at the Bramsley household, Henrik invited them in to discuss. They shared a lot of information with each other, most importantly that the South Mine was shut down that morning, and that their sickness has affected a far wider population than initially assumed. Henrik redirected the party to his superior, the Silver Company supervisor, Sinoh, whom he had filled in about the events of the night prior. When the party arrived, Sinoh recognized them as the party Henrik had hired and invited them in to discuss. Sinoh was clearly frustrated with the shutdown and also revealed the name of Marlarna's boss and their accuser- Delacent. During their conversation, both Marlarna and Sinoh were informed via a Sending spell that they needed to report in due to an emergency at the East Mine. Marlarna departed first, followed by the party and Sinoh shortly after. After parting ways, the party rushed onward to the East Mine.

They arrived to the aftermath of a grizzly skirmish. Many miners, guardsmen, and civilians lost their lives in a deadly attack. Corrupted creatures, originating from the Mines fell upon a unit of miners, chasing them out into the town before backup was called to finish the fight. The party jumped into action, assisting the locals with retrieving bodies, and tending to the wounded and Marlarna continued to direct her forces accordingly. After some further discussion, and a brief discussion with an Owl, the party retrieved a sample of one of the creatures and headed off to reconvene with Mona.

Mona was tired after a full day of seeing clients and doing research. She reported that many other miners had been in to see her with the same symptoms as the party had, which further confirmed the urgency of the situation. While her research didn't result in many positive discoveries, she directed the party back down into the mines to gather more intel and then use their findings to fuel research into the historical archives in town.

The party delved back down into Crystaldeep with Marlarna in tow- who had mostly finished up coordinating the recovery efforts at the East Mine. Upon returning to the scene of their previous excursion, they found the entrance had been re-blocked off, and Argen's body had been dragged off further into the cave system. Immediately they got to work examining the fungi, searching for clues, and investigating the area. Thanks to some extremely good rolls, they uncovered a lot of key information. Namely: That the mysterious sickness was contracted due to spore-bursts from unnatural fungal blooms that grow along a mycelial network called "Milkroot" when that network comes into contact with Draconic Blood. Satisfied by the information they uncovered they returned to town, ready for a good night's rest. Marlarna kindly offered to house them for the night and they awoke the next day ready to dive into the archives. With their court-date only 1 day away, they set out to uncover more about their mysterious sickness.
