Session 3: Descent into the 2nd Floor
General Summary
Upon arriving at the stairs, the party was ambushed by four bloody skeletons who dealt a strong blow against the party. For the first time, the party was in danger of defeat, but through some shrewd tactics and some luck, the heroes scraped by defeating the undead monstrosities.
Decending the staircase, the party arrived in another smaller circular chamber with three tunnels leading out, in the east, west and south. The party picked the southern tunnel first and graciously discovered a healing fountain and found some much needed relief after the battle at the top of the stairs. The party then traveled west entering a dark crypt that was mostly devoid of any bodies. The group heard some shuffling and skirmished with some disgusting bloated zombies who dealt a number to Sona, but otherwise were defeated.
The next room contained was a site of descration and contained a magic pool of reflection which sent terrifying visions into the mind of Aettnas and Kirbee and the party retreated back to the circular room, decideding to venture east instead.
The eastern path was forked and flooded with water reaching the waists of the average sized party members. The open archway to the right housed a collection of electric algae to which the party smartly decided to avoid, opening the swollen door on the left instead. In this flooded room, the nest of a few large local amphibians was disturbed and the frogs tried to make the party their next snack. The party instead took down the giant frogs and looted the body of a half-eaten human in the creature's nest.
Pushing through the water, the party made it to a large room with a metal wheel on the other side. After again, being ambushed by skeletons, but tactically bottlenecking them in the hall, the heroes turned the wheel opening a grate in the far side of the crypt.
They returned to the pool of nightmares, and Ray used some of her enchantment magic to force the fearful members of the group through and past the horde of bats sleeping in the following crypt.
In the final room before the large brass doors, the party faced off against two trapped statues who attempted to shove any who tried to pass into the pits along the sides of the room. Using another stroke of ingenuity, Ray had the party jump onto the statues and they bullrushed forward and carry them back as they reset. This left the party in front of the two large brass doors and they entered them ready to enter the final room of the tomb.
