Scales: The Justice System
Time to be obtuse. We're talking about the scales of justice here.
How does the justice system work in this town, and how can I include fish references?
- They don't involve the usual court system outside of a few superficial items that they throw out just to appear "normal"
- The judge in most cases must be from a neutral party, so if it's a vampire versus a fae, you have to pick someone else, and so on and so forth
- Mermaids or other aquatic species are typically the judges, because most of the time they're not involved in land nonsense
- Being slapped by a fish is a sensation that most teenage delinquents have felt as the price for their behavior
- Most trials happen on special days depending on the moon cycle so that the maximum number of citizens can attend comfortably, so a lot tends to happen
- Cases are also designed to progress very quickly, not a lot of time spent blabbering
