Eye: Magic Surveillance

They don't have a lot of people not in the know in Midnight Town, but they get tourists and the occasional hapless interloper like the Teacher. Hence the need for a system to keep track of these people, both to keep them out of trouble and to catch those who might decide it's time for someone new to be let in on the secret without the okay from the rest.

• It's not just security cameras, because people would know to look out for those
• What's an item to use so that the Mentor could see it and know it's there, but the Teacher wouldn't latch on?
• With the use of rune magic, is it just a particular symbol carved in a certain way
• Also possibly that it has to be on a particular material or the recording doesn't come through very clearly
• Should show magical auras to see who is what and really highlight where the normal humans are
• Mentor and Teacher both show up as such, it's just that Mentor has been around the block a bit and knows the secrets
• There's actually a fair number of ordinary humans who just happen to be related to or in on someone's secret
• And also a couple who just have the ability to turn it off and on, like it's connected to an amulet or something like that
