Drowned: Mermaids

All this really means is that there needs to be a decent-sized body of water near Midnight Town, so that the mermaids have a place to live.

• Part of the story? Possibly. One of the main characters could be a mermaid without legs.
• More of a selkie situation? She's trapped at the moment since her skin was taken?
• Mermaids I think in this case would be distinctly non-magical
• They're just very fishy and generally don't like dealing with surface people
• Absolutely eat a lot of fish
• A bit violent, involving drowning incidents, but it's less of a siren thing and more that a bunch of bro mermaids tend to get a little rough and forget most other people can't breathe underwater
• They're the rough equivalent of the town's football team, except only underwater and for a very mermaid sport

I like it being a dude mermaid trapped on land for some reason. Could be a fun situation for the teacher character to have to deal with someone who's trying out English class for fun this year and knows absolutely nothing.
