Depths: The School Basement

Because it's spooky, okay? We're going down to the depths of the school basement because you can fit so many secret vaults and tunnels and things and establish that this town is a mess even while the Teacher can remain somewhat clueless because why would she willingly explore the spooky place?
Is the school itself a hub at all? I like the idea of it and the magic school being on two ley line convergences or something, so their rivalry can be complete. All tunnels point away from the other school because no competitors allowed in.
The weird janitor lives down here. He's...something. One of the rarer sort of creatures. Doesn't like sunlight, but it's unclear if it's an allergy or just distaste. Has a bunch of traits that match up with a lot of different species but it's almost impossible to tell which one. He's something rare.
