Fighter: Brute Archetype in Midgard | World Anvil

Fighter: Brute Archetype

Brutes are simple warriors who rely on mighty attacks and their own durability to overcome their enemies. Some brutes combine this physical might with tactical cunning. Others just hit things until those things stop hitting back.

BONUS PROFICIENCY

Beginning when you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the Athletics skill.

BRUTE FORCE

Also at 3rd level, you are able to strike with your weapons with especially brutal force. Once per turn you can deal an additional d6 of damage to a target you hit with a melee attack. Your Brute Force die increases to a d8 at level 10 and to a d10 at level 16.

BRUTISH DURABILITY

Starting at 7th level, your toughness allows you to shrug off assaults that would devastate others. When you make a Strength, Dexterity, or Constitution saving throw, you may choose to roll your Brute Force dice and add the amount rolled to your saving throw total. If applying this bonus to a death saving throw increases the total to 20 or higher, you gain the benefits of rolling 20 on the d20. You may add this a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus and regain all uses upon a short or long rest.

DEVASTATING BLOWS

At 10th level, your hardest hits are only with the most extreme of force. Whenever you roll the maximum damage for a melee weapon attack, you may roll your Brute Force dice and add the amount rolled to the total. This does not count against the number of times you may use your Brute Force dice per turn.

SURVIVOR

Starting at 15th level, if you have at least 1 hit point at the start of your turn, you regain 5 + Constitution modifier hit points.

FEAT OF STRENGTH

At 18th level, whenever you roll a 1 on your Brute Force dice you may reroll it and must use the new roll, even if it is a 1.
