Session 5 Report
General Summary
1/10/92 continued
Kouvian and Measle went in the raft to cross the cistern. Doing so alerted a guard who threw bait into the water. Before anyone could do anything, giant crabs with skulls on their back emerged from the water and began attacking the minotaur and his ratfolk companion. From the other end of the cistern, Stinkbreath and Azid watched on as the attack was carried out for out of their reach. The guard fled to get his boss while chaos ensued.
During the fight, Kouvian was knocked unconscious while Measle was fatally wounded by the crabs. By the time his little brother could swim to him, the hero had already died.
With the crabs defeated and the enemy alerted, Azid had an idea that some would consider unnatural… he brought Measle back as a ghoul under his command. Stinkbreath was anxious to do this and Kouvian believed that he could potentially speak to a priest at the temple of Charun about getting Measle brought back.
The newly resurrected ghoul, now referred to as Geasle, came back with a vicious appetite that was not pleased by eating the deceased crabs. He hungered for the flesh of man…
The party moved deeper into the base and found a group of unsuspecting thugs tormenting a man in a cage. They brutally killed the three thugs, Geasle actually ripping the lung out of one and eating it as he was still alive and squirming. The traumatized prisoner was a dealer named Kave that had been caught stealing from King Sketch. In order to save himself from being eaten alive, he told the party how to reach King Sketch without triggering any further traps.
The party secured the poison that would have been dropped in the cistern and hid it away as they went to deal with King Sketch. They found his minions mounting what would have been an ambush for them, but Kave’s tips were invaluable. They were able to move in with the elemental of surprise and kill the bandits and wererat thugs. Unfortunately, they were unable to find King Sketch, who had used the opportunity to escape with his treasure.
Stinkbreath and the others took the stolen loot, Kave, and the poison back to the city watch to turn over. In return, they were given 200 GP.
Springmelt 11th, 2192
Kouvian, under the guise of Garnus, went to the temple of Charun to speak with the head priest. The priest told him that he could not restore Measle because he had made the choice to come back as a ghoul. Further, he knew that Garnus was not who he claimed to be. He asked that he no longer pretend to be a servant of Charun or else he would be labeled a heretic and be dealt with accordingly.
