Trestlebridge

Description

Trestlebridge is a settlement and an area within The North Downs in the south-western region. At the great chasm called Cirith Núr, the natural border between Bree-land and North Downs, lies the town of Trestlebridge. It stands guard for the majestic bridge named the Trestlespan, over which the North-South Road has run since the glorious days of the Arnorian kingdom. Recently hoards of orcs, more determined than ever before, have constantly attacked the bridge, Trestlebridge, and its proud and hardened residents. Now the smoke hang thick and heavy after the most recent attack.   The North-South Road runs south to Bree-land and north through the area of Greenway to the northern Fields of Fornost, but a smaller road turns off eastward to Esteldín. Just east of the stable-master two insidious trails lead the adventurer along the chasm toward the eastern areas of Bree-land, as well as down to the bottom of the chasm.

Landmarks

Trestlebridge Gate   This open gate stands athwart the North-South Road that since ancient times served as a royal road, connecting the northern part of the Arnorian Kingdom with the souther Gondor. Now this road connects Bree-land with the North Downs. Somehow this gate withstood the recent fierce attack when the orcs managed to overrun the town of which much now is burnt to ashes.   The Trestlespan   This once majestic stone bridge is now replaced by a temporary wooden bridge than span over the great chasm called Cirith Núr, with Trestlebridge at the southern side and Greenway at the northern. However. once the royal roads between the north and south of Arnor were heavily trafficked and this bridge served the renowned North-South Road. After the downfall of the kingdom roads and bridges have withered but important junctions and bridges have also been under constant attack of the Enemy, Trestlespan included.
