Gilford Oakley, Chief Warden of Combe

Gilford Oakley is a Men from Combe. Gilford is the Chief Warden of the village of Combe.

Gilford Oakley was born in Bree as part of the high renowned Oakley family. His father died when Gilford was still very young. He was brought up by his mother and Gilford soon joined the Bree Wardens. After 22 years of service he was assigned as the new Chief Warden of Combe. He is known as a strict Chief Warden, but a very just one as well. He organised the defence of Combe many times when a troll threatened to eat the village’s livestock.
But all good things must come to an end one day. The last few years the relations between the folk of Combe and Gilford worsened. When one of the boys of Combe trespassed into the house of Oswald Breeker, Gilford locked him up. Instead of releasing the boy with a fair warning, he banished the boy from Combe. No one knows exactly why he did this, but Gilford became very unpopular after this. Some small ‘revolts’ even happened in the village of Combe, but all without success. Nowadays the town still doesn’t like Gilford because he became more strict and raised the taxes by a big amount, but almost none still talk about the story of the boy.
