Staff of the Protector

This staff used to be the symbol of the Archmage of the Auspicious Order and by extension the ruler of their protectorate.   The bulk of the body appears to be made of wood so dark it is black. It has been polished to the point that it is reflective and one could mistake it for metal. The dark wood staff is capped with a golden, two headed eagle of magnificent design. It has ruby eyes, and each head wears a crown encrusted with diamonds. The staff also featured gold inlay along the body of the staff of various runes of power.   Legend claims that it provided the leader of the order sight of the entire realm. It also provided them defence against attacks of enemies of the order. However, the events of The Great Upstart have brought the legends of the staff into question.   After the fall of the Order, and the different nationstates going their own directions, the symbols of power of the old magocratic order moved through different hands. It ended up in the possession of the Dorveth Republic in the end.   Today, it can be found in the Dorveth Museum of National History on public display.
