Zumissai
Demographics
Zumissai is located on the eastern coast of Namu, and has the usual Namuan combination of Human and Elf populace. Zumissai has long had contact with the peoples of the southern islands, and its people often bear a similar oaken tallness and broadness of shoulder. The Gull-mask of sailors and fishers is common here, as is the Wasp-mask of the military.
Government
Zumissai's Silver Mask is an elven veteran of the many skirmishes between the Republic and pirates lurking in the waters between Zumissai and the Southern islands. She is a stern tactician in both warfare and politics, maintaining a hand-picked cadre of loyal assistants.

Zumissai began as a fishing village, hunting the rich waters off the eastern coast of Namu, but repeated contact with both brigands on Namu's southeastern plains and pirates on its waters forced the settlement to create a formal military. The soldiers of Zumissai quickly developed a reputation for skill-at-arms and honor in combat, and soon found themselves in high demand as caravan guards and peacekeepers for influential individuals across Namu, and even in the courts of the Southern Islands, a wasp-masked Zumissai retainer was a status symbol.
The town still operates a fishing trade, but it is mostly domestic. Instead, the town exports soldiers and sailors across Namu and beyond. The town also functions as the foremost trading port between the Southern Islands and the mainland of Eira.

Infrastructure
The dockyards of Zumissai are responsible for a significant proportion of the Republic's shipbuilding capabilities, and also serve as a significant port for trade between the Southern Islands and the Kingdom of Enkur.
The town has a long military history, and the barracks at Zumissai are some of the most impressive in Namu. Though there is less need for a standing army now, there are still a number of successful mercenary companies that operate off Zumissai's fearsome reputation.

Guilds and Factions
The wasp-mask of the soldier is by far the most numerous in Zumissai. Many of the Silver Mask's aides are wasp-masks, as was the Silver Mask herself. The gull-mask of those who ply the seas as sailors and fishers is not uncommon in the town, and are often seen in the company of Southern Island traders.
Geography
Zumissai lies on the rocky southeastern coast of the Namu republic. From its position on the low, pale cliffs, it commands a wide view of the southern ocean between Eira and the Southern Islands.
