Kingdom of Enkur

Structure

Enkur is ruled by a divine king or queen, revered as one chosen by the god Enkur. The day-to-day tasks of running are handled by a council of advisors, each selected by the ruler, whilst the king or queen acts as the head of state, a divine advisor, and executive of the council.

Assets

The treasuries of the Ab-Enkuri palace brim with gold and gemstones, and the sprawling manors and gardens found in the cities of Enkur are testament to its material wealth. For its size, Enkur maintains a relatively small standing army, although it is still the largest on Eira . Merchants and traders usually employ private guards and mercenaries, rather than rely on the state army. Forts are dotted around the central region, acting as trading-posts and shelter for merchant caravans, but a larger concentration can be found in the northern plains where attacks from Sun Cult radicals are more common. Enkurian arms and armour are known more for their beauty and craftsmanship than their effectiveness in battle.

Demography and Population

The Kingdom of Enkur contains around 1.2 million souls. Around 500,000 live in the central desert region, 300,000 in the cooler plains of the north, and 400,000 in the fertile jungles of the south.
Note: Central has a mix of humans, half-orcs, half-elves and genasi. North has mostly humans, some half-orcs, very few dwarves. South has humans, half-elves, full elves, and the occasional lizardfolk.

Foreign Relations

Strong trade relations with city-state league. Relations with sun cult are strained due to attacks by sun cult radicals. Relations with Republic of Namu are frosty due to contested borders. Friendly with southern island cultures due to history and trade. Little diplomatic relations with other continent and northern islands.

Agriculture & Industry

The caverns in the western mountains are particularly rich in gemstones, and the southern jungles hold massive deposits of soft, workable metals. Along the northeastern coast, fishing boats hunt for mackerel and squid.
