Gerichem
Demographics
Perhaps due to its position in the mountains, Gerichem has more dwarves and significantly fewer elves than the rest of the Viden League. In addition, Gerichem has the largest community of dragonborn outside of Keppel-Brahem, as they feel a natural affinity to the vertiginous cliffs, harsh landscape, and stormy weather.
Government
As a result of its small size, the executive and political roles of Chancellor and Principal are shared by a single individual - the aged elven Chancellor-Principal Albina. The academic and military role of Rector is held by the silver-scaled and firey-tempered dragonborn Sjorg.
Infrastructure
As with all the towns and cities of the Viden League, Gerichem's academic enclave is the pride of the city. A vast wealth of knowledge on weather patterns and the magnetic thunderbolt iron is stored within its towers.
Aside from the enclave, the stone bridge that spans the river that cuts the town in two is considered quite impressive by the townsfolk, and is indispensible for travel across Gerichem. The bridge is connected to the main road through the town, which also links to the Circle of Wisdom. This circular road heads to Huygepel in the north and Agrichav in the east, and loops further to connect most of the major settlements in the Viden League.

The High Town of Gerichem consists of villas and mansions carved directly into the grey stone cliffs, and is populated by wealthy nobles and senior academics. These cavernous dwellings are particularly desired by the dragonborn population.
The Low Town is much larger, and consists of low-lying stone buildings spread across the floor of the canyon in which Gerichem lies. The non-academic population of Gerichem live here, and a broad range of services - inns, smithys, and general stores - can be found amongst the houses.

Geography
Gerichem lies in a large, steep canyon in the grey rocks of the Viden mountains. A river flows through the canyon, dividing the town into two roughly symmetrical halves. Beyond the canyon mouth lies a stretch of farmland that feeds the city with the few crops that will thrive in the thin soil.
Above the canyon is a rocky plateau, uninhabited and undeveloped due to the fierce winds and storms that blast over it.
