WorldEmber 2023 Pledge

For WorldEmber 2023, my primary focus will once more be the Valley of Plenty. While I am busy with Shadowrun professionally, worldbuilding-wise I want to focus on getting a PF2 campaign ready for pure fun.   Last year I wrote a nice bit already, so this year my main focus will be filling in the remaining gaps needed for starting one-shots and campaigns. This also includes a bit of shuffling in categories, to make their structure easier to follow.

Mini-Meta

Scope
It is time to focus on the start of the campaign. This WorldEmber, the scope will thus be the starting areas. That is the High Plains, the Eastern Plains, and the Central Forest. So the main areas, a few relevant places inside, and some threats that can be encountered.   Additionally, we need people. There are various factions that players will encounter, which plot with or against each other. There are already eight organizations written down, but only three of their members. It's time to write down at least 1 leader and 1 other relevant member for each organization, for players to interact with.
Drama
Speaking of people: Commissions (in other word, Quests). There will be various problematic situations that need to be dealt with, which will result in quests for players and NPCs. The quest resolutions will have an impact on the valley, including the faction conflicts.   What better way to start than having some initial Commissions setup already? Their resolution can be written down later, so that the players can find what is open right now and see the world change over time. So I should start preparing a few different storylines for them to follow, either passively or actively.

Final Preparations

Homepage tweaks
I decided the homepage needs to get to the point faster. For this, I added an in-universe dramatic bit at the start. Then an explanation out-universe on what the setting is for.   Additionally, I replaced the automatic recent articles with a manual part. This lets me show the players the most recently changed articles before and after every session, to show what has all changed, as well as foreshadow what is to come.
Writing schedule
One thing is getting in the way of my WorldEmber writing: I also need to work hard on Bad Blood, a set of Shadowrun adventures meant for the 2024 Convention Season. So I have to balance those out.   I write on Monday evenings, Tuesday + Thursday trainrides, Thursday evenings, and Sundays. Mondays and all trainrides are dedicated to WorldEmber, while Sundays are meant for Shadowrun. Thursdays will go to whichever needs the most work.

Building out characters for all eight organisations sounds like a great way to meet your goal. I hope you have an excellent WorldEmber! :)
