Nuril

Otherwise known as "void-steel," nuril is an unnatural, unstable alloy of mythril, infused with the anti-existence energies of The Void. Compared to mythril, nuril is a relatively new discovery, with the technologies and processes needed to refine it have only been developed within the last few centuries.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Nuril looks like a metal made of obsidian. It is a shiny blackish-purple metal, and it also refracts light to a certain extent. At the right angles, it refracts deep purple light into uneven patterns like a rough, uneven chunk of glass or crystal would. It also looks like it is constantly flaking away, but these flakes don’t follow gravity, don’t leave behind any dust, and disappear within a few moments.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Nuril is exceedingly cold to the touch, thanks to the void energies infused into it. To Mythborn and individuals with acute spiritual awareness, the metal also has a distinctly “wrong” aura to it. It is also constantly disintegrating, mostly at the edges/corners of whatever item the metal has been made into. Like mythril, nuril has magical properties: upon contact with organic matter, particularly if via a wound, it inflicts a condition known as voiding. And like mythril, nuril can interact with the four realms to some extent—if a wound inflicted by nuril isn’t immediately fatal to a Mythborn, their abilities will be lessened for a while; and if that wound is severe enough (without being immediately fatal) and afflicted during Syzygy, that Mythborn’s connection to their myth-spirit will be completely severed and they will lose their magic.

Origin & Source

Nuril is an unnatural alloy of mythril. It is created by infusing poorly refined mythril with void energies—the void energies are channeled to seep into the fine, almost imperceptible faults of the mythril.

Life & Expiration

Nuril is incredibly unstable, thanks to the void energies infused into its faults during its manufacturing process. The void energies actively destroy the metal over time, and this disintegration accelerates with each use/strike of the metal.
