Sky Barb Grass

The darn stuff is evil, I tell ya. You'll be sailing over the Wastes, minding your own, and out the corner of your eye you'll see the blue. You'll think it water. You'll be wrong, course. See, sky reflects off the stuff. So you dash into it thinking you've got a drink, and instead its drinking your blood. It don't just cut, nah. Stuff stabs then sticks. Little barbs on the end, see. Tell ya, flat out evil.
Tasker, ship sailor.

Basic Information

Anatomy

This sharp grass has a reflective surface which gives it an odd blue sheen on a clear day. The edge of the blade is extremely sharp with vicious hooked barbs that burrow into skin. Too add to the danger, the grass produces a natural anticoagulant which causes its prey to water the ground with blood.  As the blade hooks dig deeper into flesh, the grass also begins to fill itself with nourishment.  If the blade fills.itself, the grass will turn a deep red shade.

Ecology and Habitats

Growing in large swaths, sometimes hundreds of yards in length and breadth, Sky Barb Grass is found primarily in areas of bright sunlight.  In fact, extensive shade will cause the grass to wither and die.  It thrives in sandy ground alone, especially soil that is high in salt content.
