TD-8: Trial By Combat

General Summary

Ingvar arrives around a week late to Rorahorp, interested in what heroic acts the party got up to while he was away. After searching for the group for a bit and noticing that a building has recently burned down, he meets back up with Glim, who tells him about how they met someone named Voltaire who joined the group as well as his false identity as a noble. He then talks about how Voltaire and Igni, after ignoring Glim's better judgement, decided to attempt to burn down a sacred place of worship, believing that they were cultists despite literally no evidence to support this. After this, Glim tries to convince Ingvar to break them out of prison while he runs away, immediately revealing him as either a coward or a liar about having nothing to do with the burning (or both). Guards and a priest then arrive to explain that not only did the rest of the party randomly burn down a church in the one week that Ingvar was gone, but it was also one that was very close to him. Justice is served when Glim is arrested and after some time has passed Igni and Voltaire choose trial by combat while Glim chooses a civil trial. Glim is obviously found guilty and Voltaire is killed, but despite all odds, Igni beats his trial, proving that seeing Ingvar's amazing combat skills must have rubbed off on Igni. As Ingvar leaves on a new adventure, he realises that Glim probably doesn't have long to live.
