Maksui Urqu

The Guild of Researchers and Historians found within Yadharqouk, Yiralak Sádin, Aladdin, and Don Qalsho. It once was a part of the Scholars Guild before becoming independent before the start of the contemporary era.    The main difference between it and the Scholars Guild is their more hands-on approach and how each headquarters acts independently from one another resulting in huge overlaps of research that the Scholars Guild wouldn't allow.    They however at the start of the Contemporary era became a child guild of the Scholars Guild for ease of communication and the benefits that provides, however they retain the majority of their autonomy compared to other child guilds. Its name however remains the same as the "scholars guild", just translated into the regional tongue of Donsel.   This split emerged for the Scholars Guild, with its academic detachment, favoured a method of observation that often neglected the intricate cultural nuances of the nomadic people of Sembar. On the contrary, the Maksui Urqu envisioned a more immersive, hands-on approach, believing that the preservation of cultural traditions required active participation and a profound understanding of the desert's people.

Initiate

Initiates are individuals recognized by the guild and hired as assistants for field assignments. While they are not official members of the guild, they play a supporting role in various tasks. Initiates are seldom granted access to the guild's libraries, except in cases where an Agent submits a specific request.

Learner

Learners are those who have officially joined the guild and actively engage in field assignments. They have been granted full access to the guild's libraries, excluding the restricted collection. Learners are responsible for sorting, documenting, and organizing minor information to contribute to the guild's knowledge base.

Agent

Agents are knowledge seekers who embark on field assignments outside the guild's walls, expanding the guild's understanding of the past. They lead expeditions, research historical mysteries, and gather valuable knowledge. Agents may, on rare occasions, be granted access to restricted library materials under special circumstances.

Officer

Officers are esteemed members of the guild who have proven their worth and gained access to the restricted library. They undertake a range of tasks, from documenting and organizing information to actively seeking new knowledge. Additionally, officers oversee the work of Agents, ensuring adherence to guild protocols and granting or restricting access as necessary.

Professor

Professors have reached a point in their careers where they prioritize sharing knowledge with those ascending the ranks of the guild. They play a vital role in disseminating information, guiding and instructing learners, and maintaining hidden libraries. These esteemed members possess unrivalled knowledge and wisdom, guiding the guild's mission through democratic decision-making. They have unrestricted access to the guild's vast repository of knowledge and oversee operations, research priorities, and policies.

History

Independence

In a symbolic act of defiance, the Maksui Urqu severed its ties with the Scholars Guild in the year -56 before the beginning of the contemporary era, proclaiming its independence and autonomy in the pursuit of cultural preservation. The decision was met with mixed reactions, as some scholars applauded the bold stance, while others criticized the break from the detached academic approach causing them to return to the Scholars Guild or to pick up individual research.

Documentation

Despite the split, the Maksui Urqu maintained a commitment to knowledge-sharing. They continued to share their documentation and findings with the Scholars Guild. Despite the lack of communication between Maksui Urqu headquarters, they would share their findings occasionally allowing both entities to benefit from each other's discoveries.

Preservation

In addition to their cultural endeavours, the Maksui Urqu took on the responsibility of safeguarding the region's diverse flora and fauna. Recognizing the fragility of certain species and the impact of environmental changes, they became dedicated guardians against the extinction of these wonderful creatures. Their efforts included establishing sanctuaries, cultivating endangered plants, and implementing a ranger guild dedicated to keeping the Enaslang, lizardmen, population in check.

The only way to truly learn ones culture is to speak to the culture itself
