The Lufenians

An ancient race that vanished nearly a milennia ago. While rumours persist that the humans of Tull are descended from the Lufenians, no actual proof remains to back up the claim. They were said to have served the Titan Mechon, and learned the secrets of technology in the process. Their most famed creations were vessels that could fly through the combination of magic and technology, though the method, or even any traces of it, seem to have all vanished. They were said to inhabit the entirety of the islands that are now split into the Northern Empire and the Southern Kingdoms. They vanished during the Calamity, as did most of their technology, civilisation and knowledge.

Devices

Occasionally, remnants of their civilisation do appear, including special artifacts known simply as Devices. These Devices combine magic and technology in strange ways that scholars and mages alike have studied extensively without any success. These curious pieces of technology seem to house endless energy, never stopping. A device that turns by itself will never sotp turning, no matter what is attached to it, making it possible to generate endless energy. Such a Device is owned by the empire and controls the entirety of the sluicegates and sewer system beneath the city all by itself. A large part of the conflict between the North and South lies over Tull laying claim to any and all Devices found, and demanding they be handed over, as well as whomever found them immediately vacating that area so that Tullians may investigate to see if any others remain.
