Villdue is the capital city of the Kingdom of Falise located in the center of the kingdom along the bank of the Petiaun River.

Demographics

The population of Villdue is predominantly Humans. Like many settlements in Falise there is a large Halfing population, mostly residing in the are of the city known as The Flots. Half elfs form the third largest group and while other races are present they are in particularly small numbers. The population can thus be broken down as follows.

Human: 65%
Halfling: 20%
Half Elven:10%
Other: 5%

Government

King Laurent III presides over the city, though much of the actual day to day operations are entrusted to the numerous noble houses of the city. Once per week the common folk of the city are able to bring any issues they have to the attention of these nobles provided they have enough support, usually in the form of a petition or formal declatration from one of the cities guilds.

Defences

Villdue is defended by a professional garrison of soldiers and guardsmen, supplied by each of the noble families. While this eases the financial strain of maintaining such a force on the city as a whole it can result in some issues if two families are engaged in a fued, guards supplied by one house potentially turning a blind eye to something that may harm the other.

Industry & Trade

While many industries can be found in the Villdue, none are more prestigious or renown as the vineyards that surround the city. Wines produced here are highly sought after in all of Merkia

Architecture

While a lot of the cities architecture is fairly simple, with the exception several important buildings or lavish mansions in the Crown Quartier, Villdue is a particularly colorful city with many of the buildings being painted in yellows, blues, and reds. Large murals can also be found throughout the city decorating public spaces.
