Kingdom of Falise

In the southern regions of Merkia is the small Kingdom of Falise spanning the coastline between the City State of Kerma and the Coitlal Jungle. The Kingdom is part of The Dawn Alliance, a political alliance to ensure security against the Empyrean Empire. The region is famous for its the wine it produces in its numerous vineyards in the northen areas of the kingdom

Geography

Falise is most well known for its cliffs that form the coastline. At their highest, they are estimated to be over 3000ft making them the tallest cliffs in Merkia. Formed of a hard black stone these cliffs act as a superb natural defense for Falise, making it all but impossible to attack by sea. The only individual belived to have successfully overcome them was the legendary orc pirate Grukzan during his great raid known as The Scourge of Grukzan. Atop the cliffs, the lands of Falise are rich and fertile, covered mostly in farmland and vineyards. Several small forests also make up the region, the largest of which is the Emaude forest north of the capital city Villdue. To the east, the terrain gets more mountainous on the border with the City State of Kerma.

Fauna & Flora

Several animals are unique to the region, such as the White Gull, a seabird that nests in the cliffs and adorns the flag of the kingdom. Brown bears can be found in the eastern regions and many types of game make their homes in the forests including wild boar, various deer and rabbits. While a variety monstrous creatures make their home in the forests and cliffs they typically leave the populace alone making Falise one of the safer regions of Merkia.
