Blindlings

Basic Information

Genetics and Reproduction

Blindlings lay eggs in the deepest part of their cove, in a small section they fill up with water called a shallow. They protect the cove, often covering it with moss to avoid detection. The blindling pair will stay with their hatched young until they develop legs, and then they will leave the cove alone.

Growth Rate & Stages

From hatching it takes Blindlings three years to reach sexual maturity. Blindlings usually don't live past the age of 10.

Ecology and Habitats

Blindlings live in small caves and caverns underground. They chew out small tunnel like coves above the floor and hide inside them. Some Blindlings will move into an old abandoned cove, but most dig their own.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Blindlings live primarily on cave moss and mushrooms. They have been observed digging ridges on cave walls to give the plants something to grow on. On some occasions if given a chance they will hunt animals to use their blood on the cave walls to encourage plant growth.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Blindlings have been found in shallow underground caverns in Orisia, though some assume they can be found underground just about anywhere.

Average Intelligence

Blindlings are low intelligence creatures, but have been observed digging ridges to grow food on, covering their shelter with moss for protection, and even erecting crude statues to their deity, a giant starfish.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Blinglings are infact practically blind. Their eyes have evolved into magical light weapons for self defense but don't actually seem to function as eyes very well. They have poor hearing, but are able to feel temperature differences and smells in the air through their skin.
