Marcus Trouve
Famous Entrepreneur / Tech Prodigy bringing Indoor light to Merida
- Marcus Trouve - A businessman / road building/ trolley builder/ Salesman extraordinaire
- Marcus Trouve is the son of a trader that grew up on the roads of Merida. His father Jaffrey took his son with him along the roads where he met Inventors and Arcanists throughout Merida. A very attractive and charismatic teenager, he grew up to be a ladies man and the best promoter of his inventions and ideas. He pitched the Patchwork Fields Trolley to King Alduin and was given the go ahead to proceed, no demo required. The subsequent roll out and success of the trolley connected the Patchwork Fields to the rest of Merida and endeared Marcus to the King. Trade from the remote region has helped it prosper and brought many of their goods to Tylren.
- As a teenager, he convinced an Inventor and an Arcanist (Arcane Council) to apprentice him. He developed a way to capture sunlight so that people could have lights inside their homes at night that would not catch on fire.
- He convinced his father to invest in his new business and the lamps are now sold throughout the lowlands of Merida.
- Over the years, he has expanded his business and is now working to light all of Tylren’s city streets.
- People across Merida know the name of Marcus Trouve and love his new inventions. Or most citizens do. Every time he appears in public, he is mobbed.
- Marcus is in his early twenties and spends most of his time either on the road or in his workshop in Tylren.
- Unfortunately, he has enemies:
- The Arcane Council are obvious enemies. They have some members who are wary of anyone that introduces technology to the people. They think that he has been trading with the Witches in Blackwater Hollow (The Witches Marsh). If Marcus knew of the Witches, he would want to trade with them and learn all he could from them. His curiosity is only exceeded by his ambition.
- The Wardens are frenemies of Marcus. While they are pleased that his improvements help the people, but are wary of changes that could bring destruction. They suspect that he stole some technology to invent his Sunlight Lantern. They have a Warden who has entered his employee and has worked their way up the ladder in his company: Chesney Lavrett. She is of course, undercover and is not dressed as a Warden.
