Venebri
Goddess of dusk and hidden places
When the long purple shadows begin to lengthen over the fields, and the first cries of owls and screeching of bats in the twilight sky can be heard, that's where Venebri (Vehn-UH-bree) can be found.
A quiet, shy goddess, her nature is to be found in solitude. Whether it's in the secret nook behind the library bookshelf, or the small hollow in the tree only a halfling child could fit through, her followers are those who enjoy their time alone.
But that does not mean that her or her followers have withdrawn from the world, or isolate themselves from others. They are not monks, to have taken vows of silence or to have foresworn from seeing the face of the sex they find attractive, no. Instead, they simply prefer the company of books or the wind or a crackling flame to that of others.
In other words, the quiet and isolation is not a punishment or a denial of self to Venebri or her followers - it is a privilege.
For this reason, Venebri's followers do not often congregate in a church or have any formal grouping. Her worship is as private and personal as everything else in their lives.
But those that venerate her tend to take positions that give them plenty of time alone: lighthouse keepers and game wardens, librarians and researchers, craftsmen and bookkeepers... anything that allows for long hours with a lantern lit as the dusk gathers to sit in the quiet and commune with her in their work.
