Ónfendur Republic

Following the construction of Jafnir, the major Northern factions joined together to form the Ónfendur Republic in peaceful existence with the Imperitan Empire. While each faction had its own motivations, strengths, and weaknesses, the combined force made for a fierce and self-sufficient counterpart to their Southern neighbors. Eventually, the power struggles between the factions would lead to the downfall of the Republic, but not before bringing the Imperitan Empire to a stalemate in the 200 Year War.

Disbandment

Seeing the Imperitan Empire in a weakened state, disagreements among the Republic of Ónfendur lead to a failed coup and the dissolution of the Republic.

Demography and Population

The peoples of the Ónfendur Republic could largely be sorted into three factions. Perhaps the most powerful of the three, the Jafnir faction held sway over the capital of Jafnir, with stalwart allies in the Eastern Mountains and the surrounding forests. Challenging Jafnir for that power, the Western Faction held Jarnsmidur in its fold, as well as the more tribal folks of the burtal conditions leading to the Western Shore. Making up the Southern Faction were the defenders of the Springtime Pass and the berserkers that lay claim to the twisting and secretive Southern mountains.
