Silca Caius Montoya

Silca Caius Montoya (a.k.a. Lady Caius)

The well-off daughter of a Meranese Senator, Silca Caius inherited a talent for glass magic from her mother, who didn't practice. She studied with the Ladies of the Pane as a girl (back when the organization was still a church), before coming back to Novaroma and attending collegium. There she met Nirav Montoya and decided to put his potential to good use. Embracing his humble origins as the narrative for his political career, Silca turned a simple country boy into a well-respected Senator. She was content to be the power behind the throne until she got pregnant.   Wanting to see what the future held for her heir, Silca cast stained glass on her unborn daughter's behalf (something frowned upon amongst glass witches), and wound up with a prophecy of death - her daughter's death at her hands. As the window showed an event at least 18 years in the future, a distraught Silca thought it was better to end her daughter's life before it could really begin rather than waiting 18 years and becoming attached.   She was stopped before she could commit the crime, and sent to an asylum. The Ladies of the Pane who taught her as a girl found her there and helped her escape to Insulam Merano where she joined the Order and works toward the Great Recasting.
