First Word of "The Shadowfell" Starts to Spread

Artistic creation

1615 - 1625 AD

During the same time as the Ravenqueen's Ascension, the first word of the Shadowfell plane of existence is mentioned and in 1625 a book is even written on it although most scholars will still claim it is all a bunch of bullshit.

Yes I copy-pasted this, get over it.   The Shadowfell (Written 1625 AD)     If you ask the top 100 extra planar scholars if The Shadowfell exists, 99 will tell you no. They will also tell you that the 1 who said yes should likely not be considered a scholar.   Luckily for you, this book was written by that 1 scholar. An elven man named Hagmer Elwynn, a necromancy professor turned extraplanar scholar. Now, it does not take a genius to notice a special form of bias here. It appears like Mr. Elwynn personally knew the “Lady of the Carrions” who you would know as the Raven Queen. He apparently knew her prior to her ascension and appears to be in the middle of having a mental crisis as throughout the book, he continuously complains about noticing how much he forgot about her, including her actual name. From what you can tell, he was likely a cultist who likely directly aided in her ascension. The book ends with him complaining about getting fired from the academy, and the last page more or less appears to be a suicide note, hoping that he “can see her face just one last time,” which is fun and pleasant.   Anyway, The Shadowfell. What is it? Who fucking knows. No, really, that's more or less the answer you get. Mr. Elwynns descriptions are a complete cluster fuck. From what you can gather is that it is this plane of never ending darkness that seems to grasp around the Prime Material Plane (PMP) on the inside of the net that is the Great Filter. Where this plane relates to the Faewilds, which is normally described as resting as a disk above the PMP on the inner side of the Great Filter, is unclear. Mr. Elwynn describes the Faewilds as having “The most irreparable, irrelevant, and condescending columns that pierce through what was supposed to be the most beautiful place in all of creation”. This is actually somewhat corroborated in some actual research which shows that entrance to the Faewilds has become considerably more complicated, requiring exact timings to cross since the Great Filter, which would not normally make sense since the Great Filter should have no effect. Mr. Elwynn’s “Columns Theory” is actually used today, although with the explanation that the Great filter covers some portion of the plane but has these large gaps or “columns.”   Mr. Elwynn declares multiple times that “His most important, Powerful, Omnipotent Lady” can shape the darkness that is the Shadowfell into whatever she wants. The evidence that Mr. Elwynn cites for this…does not exist; he just pulls this claim seemingly out of his ass. He also claims that “His poor lady trapped herself there,” although through the ramblings, it becomes increasingly unclear if that was the actual point or not. He describes the results of her ascension both as the exact thing they had hoped for, and a complete disaster repeatedly without any pattern.   Mr. Elwynn also seems to have spent a considerable amount of time trying to force himself into the Shadowfell to limited success. To complicate matters, he spends an entire chapter bitching how everything that has ever interacted with his “Lady of the Carrions” seemingly has been turning to ash, which considering that normally to travel to other planes, you need something from that plane as a focus, makes things difficult.   At the end of the book Mr. Elwynn describes how the previous day he was knocked off his horse before being trampled by it slightly and hitting his head. He describes himself as “for the first time seeing the place he has spent so long trying to get to”. Unfortunately for him, this happened in the middle of Thaneas and a Cleric of Pelor easily revived him, only for him to go fucking postal and allegedly killing them. He describes the plane as “the most peaceful and beautiful place in all of creation” and how after writing this he will “ensure that he returns there as soon as he possibly can''.
