Season 4.5, Events from the Free City of Pentos
General Summary
TL;DR
After 6 years, the City of Pentos has become Essos' New Vegas. Gambling, drugs, and entertainment can be found at every corner. All are welcome, none turned away. The nouveau riche dominate the city, with so many avenues to attain wealth (and therefore power) available. Along with so many ways to lose it. There no longer remains an established aristocracy to check them. For it is not blood, but coin that speaks loudest. Radical elements that reside in the City of Pentos are those Ellyria has bankrupt, the old families, and the xenophobic devout of R'hllor.Year 422

Ellyria sends a courier to her Dothrak husband afield, informing the Khal of Lys' movements. She shares that if his riders clash with the Lysene army outside Pentos in the coming week, the Cat will pour forth from its walls and fall upon their rear. And with Lys broken, Essos will be his.11th Day

And attack the Dothraki's unsuspecting ranks, disorganizing the Dothraki screamers. The battle quickly turns to Lys' favor. The Horde begins to break, and a disloyal Ko chooses to flee west, toward the Sunrise Road. There, they find Lysene mariners led by Captain-General Lysander already manning the Horro Barricades. Rumors of his capture apparently just that, as Lysander had landed his men at Prince's Shore and secured the Sunrise Gate just a day prior. The Ko attacks, and the Lysene mariners emerge victorious. Khal Kraluh himself falls shortly after, at the height of the battle. Seeing their Khal dead and dust in the west, the remaining Dothraki break and flee east come sunset, toward the Velvet Gate. The Lysene and Cat give chase. As the scattered riders pass through the Gate, and enter the Velvet Pass however, they find themselves set upon by Volantene soldiers, who ambush dozens of khas attempting to escape through the Velvet Hills. Lys and the Cat soon collapse upon those that give pause to battle the Volantene.12th Day
The Hazdahn Khalasar is defeated. Lys' Gonfaloniere, Vagarro Moraqos 'the Ancient', declares the Dothraki threat in Essos to be over. Surviving Dothraki bands are later learned to litter the Rhoyne. While some choose to continue raiding, most choose to return to the Dothraki Sea. Immediately leading them into conflict with the New Vale.13th Day
After meeting with Pentos' leader in the Tower of Mopatis, the Free Cities' coalition comes to an end, with each army returning to its respective territory. Pentos quickly publicizes its part in ending the so-called 'Hazdahn Raids', claiming to have spread rumors of Captain Lysander's capture, the Company of the Cat betraying Lys, and of Pentos joining the Dothraki Horde. All to ensure the Dothraki fell for the coalition's ultimate trap. It is said that never once did Pentos betray Essos. With the popularity of the Dragonpit's events, gambling has gripped Pentos' culture. Betting can be found in nearly every tavern, outside even the gambling halls (to the city's detriment), and bets occur over even the smallest events. The High Archon defends the phenomenon to the EETC's Council of Patrons after two EETC shareholders allegedly lose their entire enterprises (along with their shares) over snail racing.Sixth Moon

5th Unity Day. The music begins at dawn. On the streets, mummers ride hobby horses, waving around dull sickles, until knocked down by children with sticks. Nearby troubadours watch them, singing of khal's folly. EETC vendors freely hand out sweets and instruments. Instruments that many now play in some modicum of tune. This year, many stages have been erected around the city, featuring famous plays penned by past Pentoshi playwrights. At sundown, on a large stage below the Tower of Mopatis, the High Archon performs her own adaptation of a play written by her late husband, focusing on the career of the 'Black Birds'. A titanic duo that once toured the Free Cities two decades ago, featuring the famed Night Bird of Pentos and Westeros' Black Swan.Eighth Moon

Pentos' Docks have become infamous for becoming a place one can purchase anything. Goods, ships, shares, land, property, titles, drugs, men, women, and more. Due to lax laws, duties, and questions, it has become a haven for even the lawless to peddle their wares. And much more profitable than any ports found in the Stepstones. The High Archon is forced to defend this to the EETC's Council of Patrons after notorious pirate Captain Kidd is apprehended by the EETC's Chamber of Steel on Pentos' docks, who was noted to have peddled stolen EETC goods for months.Ninth Moon

15th Day
The Eager announce the completion of the Ellyrian Theatre. A marvel of architecture, its sleek, limestone spires could be seen under construction for years, piercing the city's skyline. They starkly contrast with Pentos' traditional square brick towers, both in color and form. Able to seat up to 500 people, and with several boxes nestled in its spires, it's programming is planned to surpass any other found in Essos, and such great presentation that it will impress any who visit.29th Day
The first performance in the Ellyrian Theatre is held. It features a play written by Westeros' Green Bard about Queen Visenya, though it is performed as an opera. It also makes many more jests at her expense. A number of scenes that had cast House Swann or Mopatis in a poor light are noticeably expunged as well. Freeholder Ellyria plays herself in the performance. The Eager say the entire theatre shook with applause upon its finale.Sixth Moon

6th Unity Day. The day has begun to attract travelers from all over, who hear of how even the city streets themselves sing with music. Laughter and song fill the air. The Dothraki are mocked. And Freeholder Ellyria sings once again at the day's end, this time giving a performance that depicts the Saga of House Mopatis. Focusing more and more on the lead performer's many accomplishments in recent memory. It receives mixed reception.Seventh Moon
