Having arrived in Lys as a slave, she not only managed to win her master's attentions to such an extent as to being freed, but also made herself so indispensable to him that she was even turn her into his wife... at the expense of his previous one, too. Ariadeno has always struggled finding trustworthy subordinates - not an unknown issue in the Pirate world - and Heloisa provided that: an alter ego, a substitute, an aide that could manage the politics of his stature while he's away plundering. Marriage meant for her both legitimation and responsibility: she had to mellow her husband's relations, while BEING him. Master Polidore (as Ariadeno likes being called in his civilian disguise) couldn't afford a loss in respect and, more so, in fear, as leader of the Brethren's Court. Numerous were the attacks, the humiliations, the backstabs, but she prevailed, with ruthlessness as well as grace: some throat cut, some tongue poisoned, many disappearances; all while the young woman gained favor with groups that were always sworn enemies of the Pirates... No Mistress of any brothel would have conversed with a brutal slaver, but with a former captive? And a woman at that? No nobleman would have ever set foot in a mansion built over blood money and certainly more used to raucous drinking than any gala, yet what about an invite from an authentic Lady of the Reach? Madame Polidore spinned a web of political affiliations that encompasses all tendencies, beliefs and interests, with her at the center. Some may even say that Ariadeno himself as become but a tool in his wife's hands... Clouds are amassing at the horizon though: Ariadeno is getting old, and he still lacks a heir that the aging Heloisa has not given him...yet.
