Greta Cavebear
Related Character Bio
Magnar Brittlefang’s second in command is a woman by the Name of Greta Cavebear, hailing from the Mountain Dwellers. She is chiefly in charge of a number of settlements in the gift, and is an agricultural expert. It is also her job to maintain the delicate balance of alliances between the dozens of constituent clans in the far North while Brittlefang is away on campaign. Greta Cavebear is in her 40s, and is married to her wife who resides in the gift. They have three surrogate children between them.
A renowned hunter from the cave dweller tribe, she and Brittlefang became friends and drinking buddies as youths. They each would variously find themselves stumbling into fights or in the chieftain’s daughter’s furs, and the other would have to bail them out.
As they got older, Greta found love in the form of a sweet girl from the gift. They got married, and Greta vowed to give up her dangerous life to provide for her wife. They lived a quiet life for 5 years before Greta became restless. After a particularly bad harvest, Greta made the decision to head back beyond the wall and aid in Brittlefang’s conquest of the Haunted Forest, promising to bring back incredible wealth.
Greta made good on her promise, and now she and her wife live well in White Harbor, raising Varin and ruling with a wise hand over the Southern Thenns.
Naming Rights
Each member of the clan is supposed to earn their name from a great feat they accomplished. Most earn their name after performing their rite of passage, but this is not always the case. For some, it takes longer than others.
Greta Cavebear presumably killed a great bear…or maybe slept with a bear. Knowing her it could be both.
