Personality

Edith Blount is a fiercely independent woman and very protective mother. Edith has made few friends since her arrival in Lorath. Her position managing her son's inheritance has attracted many hopeful suitors. Her public and embarrassing rejection of these men has lost her favor with the city's upper class. This change in status doesn't phase Edith as she spends most of her free time with her son.

History

Born into the lowly House Blount, Edith could expect little prospects in her life. Especially upon the birth of her brother Vincent, who became heir to the family's small keep. Hoping to find a good match for his daughter, Byron sent her to King's Landing. Their Edith would serve as a lady in waiting for various noblewomen during their visits to the capital.
While at court Edith would catch the eye of a foreign diplomat. One Sallos Dynar, a Lorathi Senator who had been waiting for an audience with the Prince. Edith knew nothing of Sallos or his city, but decided to humor the older man's interest in her. Sallos showered her in gifts and affection making her feel important for once. She tried to return the favor by showing Sallos all the points of interest in King's Landing. Their relationship would become more serious after Sallos Dynar decided to remain in King's Landing to spend more time with Edith. Any real courtship was cut short by the sudden outbreak of war between the Vale and Kingdom of Andals. The two of them fled from Kings Landing arriving at the Vale just ahead of the invading armies. Sallos would remain behind to assist in the defense of the Vale while she and other Lorathi refugees from the capital made the voyage to Lorath. Learning she was pregnant with Sallos Dynar’s child while at sea. Edith faced an uphill battle upon reaching Lorath, being disowned by her father and learning of the death of Sallos. While she did claim the Dynar family estate for her unborn child, the Lorathi Senate questioned if her child was of Sallos. The Daughters of Lorath provided Edith with shelter while she argued her case before the Acting Magister Seresha Jaqen. Securing her inheritance was actually not that difficult as her deceased lover had been paying the office fees for many senators. If the state were to seize the Dynar Estate it could kick off a crisis in the already panicked Republic. The only opposition she faced was from the zealot Orthodox Senators, looking to benefit from the collapse of the Whale Party. Sersha did overrule these men but Edith would continue to clash with the fanatics even today.
After the birth of Sallos Dynar jr., Edith would be drawn into politics soon after her recovery. The harassment of the Orthodox members made her decision to join the New Unity Pary much easier. Her funding to the Daughters of Lorath allowed their campaign to remove the law banning female senators from office. In return the city's wealthy widows ensured Edith a spot in the Tempest Trust Bank. Where she now serves as Second Chair, managing the daily operations of the Bank's main office.
