Dune Cutter

This unique vehicle is used exclusively by Wraakling skirmishers along and within the Dread Wastes. Looking like the front half of a sailing ship, the Dune Cutter is a wheel-less chariot type vehicle, pulled by Wraakling mounts, or sailed in on controlled sandstorm winds. The hulls bare a small fin dipped into the dune sands to help with steering, and a sail of tough fibers that bare more than wind. They're in-and-out vehicles, used to harass and raid enemy supply trains long the trade roads.   Dune Cutters saw frequent use during the Bride's Rebellion in 178: Awakening, when the Wraaking population rose to a significant number, and came into frequent conflict with the native human population. With the unusual ability to alter sand flow patters in both the storms and dunes, a Wraakling controlling a Dune Cutter could race along the best horses, firing anything from crossbows to ballista mounted on the backs of cutters, parting the sands long enough to fire, and then letting the storm swallow them again. Tales of Wraakling sandstorm raids from survivors are harrowing and terrifying.
"We didn't think anything could mount an attack during the storm. The camp was packed in to endure it. Then Cas took an arrow in the chest, right next to me. No one heard a thing. I looked into the sand just in time to see them, two Wraaklings in full war gear, sliding along the dunes in a small sand ship, is the best way I can put it. Then the storm hid them again. I raised the alarm, but it was slaughter. I guessed there were three of these vehicles. I saw Re'l hauled onto the back of one. I ran. I think I only survived because of the storm, and my cowardice. The whole group was lost, along with all the supplies."   Yev'ta Frulst, Un'arthi Soldier, 179:Awakening
